Piers Morgan recently shared his take on Donald Trump following the US President’s controversial remark toward a journalist, whom he called “piggy.” Appearing on ITV’s Peston, Morgan discussed Trump’s response to a reporter asking about the release of the remaining Epstein files.
Morgan recalled how his own daughter once questioned whether Trump could ever be “too unique,” a term Morgan admitted might be the best way to describe the former president. He described Trump as a “trash-talking, New York real estate magnate” who became the most powerful person in the world. While Morgan acknowledged that Trump occasionally makes statements that make people wince, he also credited the former president with being “very effective” in other areas.
On Trump’s treatment of journalists, Morgan said it wasn’t a defense but tried to provide context: “He has spent years being called a Nazi and a fascist by many of them, and I don’t believe he’s either. So calling somebody a little piggy may be indelicate and ungentlemanly, but it’s not as bad as being called a Nazi.”
The clip quickly went viral on X, sparking widespread criticism. Users called Morgan a “Trump suckup” and accused him of excusing behavior they considered misogynistic and rude. One comment read: “No, it wasn’t indelicate—it was downright misogynistic. The man is a moron.” Another added, “Morgan lets Trump slide while anyone else would be held accountable. Despicable.”
The incident occurred aboard Air Force One as Trump returned to Washington, when a reporter asked about the delayed Epstein files. Trump’s response—“Quiet, piggy”—has since fueled debates about his conduct toward the press.
