Donald Trump's brutal 9-word attack on Zohran Mamdani's looks in CBS 60 Minutes interview

During a new interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes”, former President Donald Trump took a not-so-subtle jab at Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, mocking his political views and even his looks.

The interview, conducted by Norah O’Donnell at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, marked the first time Trump appeared on the program since settling a lawsuit over a previous segment involving then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

While discussing issues such as the Israel-Gaza conflict, immigration, the Venezuela standoff, and the ongoing government shutdown, the conversation unexpectedly turned to New York City’s high-profile mayoral race a contest that has captured national attention.

When O’Donnell mentioned Mamdani, describing him as a “34-year-old democratic socialist,” Trump interrupted, firing back:

“Communist. He’s far worse than a socialist.”

O’Donnell went on to note that some voters see Mamdani as a “left-wing version” of Trump someone who’s “charismatic” and “breaking old political rules.”

Trump smirked before responding with a cutting remark:

“Well, I think I’m a much better-looking person.”

The former president’s comments sparked widespread discussion online, as Mamdani’s campaign has gained momentum among progressives. Throughout his run, Mamdani has aligned himself with Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, pledging to challenge Trump’s policies on housing, transportation, and social programs.

Trump, however, has repeatedly mocked those proposals particularly Mamdani’s plans for rent freezes and free public transit calling him “my little communist.”

According to The New York Times, over 735,000 New Yorkers have already voted early significantly more than in the last mayoral election with record turnout on Sunday alone.

Interestingly, while Trump publicly ridiculed Mamdani, former President Barack Obama reportedly reached out privately to the Democratic contender. Sources close to the campaign say Obama praised Mamdani’s energy and message during a 30-minute phone call over the weekend.

“Your campaign has been so impressive to watch,” Obama told him, according to those familiar with the call.

Though Obama has not made any official endorsement, his words have fueled speculation that he may be watching the New York race closely.

Trump’s fiery “60 Minutes” appearance was his first in five years and, as usual, it left plenty of headlines in its wake.
