U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a stern warning to anyone accused of funding the anti-fascist Antifa movement, claiming that his administration would take strong action against such individuals.
Speaking during a White House roundtable on Wednesday, Trump hinted that some of those allegedly supporting the group could be “elite individuals” he has personally “dined with.”
“They [Antifa] have been very threatening to people, but we’re going to be even more threatening to them especially to those funding their operations,” Trump said, according to Express U.S.
“Probably some people I know, some I’ve had dinner with. If they’re funding Antifa, they’re in deep trouble.”
Last month, Trump signed an executive order officially designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. This move allows the Justice Department to investigate and charge anyone who provides financial or material support to groups on the terror list.
The order claims Antifa uses “illegal means to organize and execute violent acts” across the country, aiming to undermine the federal government. It also directs federal agencies to disrupt and dismantle any unlawful operations connected to the movement.
The renewed crackdown follows Trump’s continued threats to deploy National Guard troops in Democrat-led cities, part of his broader push to tackle violent crime and unrest.
During the roundtable, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem accused Democrats of “covering up the terrorism happening on their streets” and labeled Antifa as a group that “seeks to destroy the American way of life.”
Antifa, an umbrella term for far-left activists who confront white supremacists and neo-Nazis, often encourages protest actions both peaceful and confrontational.
Throughout his presidency, Trump frequently blamed Antifa for violence during protests, including those that erupted after George Floyd’s death. His recent statements mark a return to that rhetoric, particularly after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last month, which reignited political tensions across the country.
Meanwhile, tensions are also rising internationally, as Trump faces warnings from Latin American leaders amid reports of a U.S. strike on a Colombian vessel, a move some claim could spark a “Caribbean conflict.”
