Vladimir Solovyov, a prominent pro-Kremlin TV host, has launched a blistering attack over the possibility of the US supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, saying Russia should "write off" Poland if such weapons are provided. On his program he argued Moscow should arm countries like Venezuela, Iran and North Korea so they could strike the United States in response.
Solovyov warned that if Ukraine obtained Tomahawks, Kyiv might be able to strike deep into Russian territory — a scenario he described with visible agitation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly raised the request for Tomahawks during a private meeting with US President Donald Trump in New York, and Mr Trump later said he had "sort of made a decision" while seeking to avoid further escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The host said he would welcome the US giving Tomahawks to Ukraine if the Pentagon would be the ones to target them, and argued Russia should supply "everything" to states he named, including a weapon he called the Oreshnik. He insisted Russia must destroy any sites from which missiles are launched against it, and claimed Polish bases where Ukrainian troops train or weapons are stored should "burn and explode," extending the threat to NATO countries he accused of conspiring against Russia.
Translated remarks shared by Russian Media Monitor show Solovyov predicting that if Kyiv received Tomahawks, European nations would be unable or unwilling to uphold the laws of war, and he compared Russia’s potential fate to the devastation Germany suffered in World War II. His commentary did not address historical contexts such as the Blitz or Nazi aggression, nor did it acknowledge that Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 have been widely regarded as violations of international law.
Solovyov also suggested Europeans would celebrate a catastrophic strike on a Russian nuclear power plant that caused widespread contamination, saying they would reportedly applaud such an outcome. He warned Russians to take the Tomahawk threat seriously while asserting Russia could "destroy all of Ukraine" and that Europeans would not be concerned.
Claiming Europe had effectively written off Ukraine, he asserted that European support for the Ukrainian people had vanished. In emphatic language, Solovyov urged that victors in war must be "ferocious," shouting that the winners are "the ferocious ones, the ones who break the will to resist."
He concluded by declaring Russia would level Ukrainian cities such as Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Odesa, and argued that Kyiv itself would cease to exist unless Ukrainians recognised their leaders as Nazis and overthrew them.
