After two years of devastating conflict, a historic peace breakthrough has finally emerged in the Middle East. Hamas and Israel have agreed to the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, marking a potential turning point in one of the world’s most enduring and tragic conflicts.
The deal described as a “moment of profound relief” by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has sparked celebrations worldwide, as both sides commit to the initial steps toward ending the war and rebuilding Gaza.
🇬🇧 Keir Starmer: “The World Feels a Profound Relief”
Speaking from Downing Street, Starmer said:
“I welcome the news that a deal has been reached on the first stage of President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza. This is a moment of profound relief that will be felt all around the world especially for the hostages, their families, and the civilians of Gaza who have endured unimaginable suffering.”
He praised the diplomatic efforts of the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, calling the agreement “a crucial step toward a just and lasting peace.”
Starmer emphasized that humanitarian aid must now flow freely, urging all sides to honor their commitments without delay.
🕊️ What the Gaza Peace Deal Includes
Under the terms of the agreement:
- 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 Gazans detained since the war began will be released.
- 400 aid trucks per day will be allowed into Gaza, with numbers expected to rise in later stages.
- 48 Israeli hostages including 20 believed to be deceased will be released by Hamas following an Israeli cabinet vote on the ceasefire.
- Israel will withdraw troops to a designated “yellow line” within 24 hours once the vote passes.
Officials say the remaining Israeli captives could be freed as soon as Sunday or Monday, depending on the progress of the implementation.
🇺🇸 Trump: “A Different World Is Coming”
President Donald Trump confirmed he plans to visit the Middle East as the agreement is finalized, coinciding with the release of the hostages.
“We hope this leads to a full end to hostilities and a rebuilding of Gaza for the sake of the Gazans and Israel,” Trump said.
He described the peace plan as the “first stage of a new world”, adding that “other nations with great wealth will help Gaza rebuild.”
💔 Two Years of War and a Chance to Rebuild
The breakthrough came after intensive talks in Egypt, almost exactly two years after the October 7, 2023 attacks, when Hamas-led militants killed over 1,200 people and took 251 hostages in Israel.
Since then, more than 67,000 people including over 20,000 children have reportedly died in Gaza, according to the local health ministry.
The hope now is that this peace plan will not only end the violence but also lay the foundation for a sustainable future one focused on reconstruction, reconciliation, and regional stability.
