Hakeem Jeffries Calls Out Karoline Leavitt for ‘Dangerous’ Remarks About Democrats

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries strongly condemned comments made by Trump’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, after she claimed that the Democratic Party’s main supporters were “Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals.”

Leavitt’s remarks have drawn widespread criticism from across the political spectrum, with many calling them not only false but deeply harmful in a time when political violence and hate incidents are rising across the country.

In a press briefing, Jeffries denounced the statement as “sick, demented, and completely out of touch with reality.” He warned that such rhetoric only fuels division and hatred among Americans:

“We’ve already seen a disturbing rise in political violence and hate in America. Swastikas appearing in congressional offices, extremist rhetoric online, and open displays of racism this is the environment being encouraged by these words,” Jeffries said.

He continued by saying that no official White House spokesperson should ever label millions of Americans as criminals or terrorists simply because of their political beliefs:

“Karoline Leavitt’s comments make no sense. It’s appalling that in the middle of a government shutdown, the Trump administration is spreading falsehoods instead of working to help the American people.”

Jeffries ended his statement by emphasizing that the American people see through these divisive tactics and that Democrats remain focused on policies that actually improve lives from protecting healthcare and lowering costs to defending democracy and human rights.

Political observers say Leavitt’s remarks reflect a broader trend of increasing political polarization in the U.S. a tactic aimed at energizing the most extreme factions of the base rather than appealing to common ground.

At a time when millions of Democrats and Republicans live side by side as neighbors, many Americans are calling for leaders who prioritize unity, truth, and compassion over inflammatory rhetoric.
