In recent weeks, photos of former President Donald Trump have sparked new discussions about his health after visible bruising on his hands was noticed in multiple public appearances.
On Friday, Fox News issued a breaking news alert confirming that President Trump had undergone a medical checkup at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. According to the network, the 79-year-old leader spent nearly three hours at the facility for what the White House described as a “scheduled follow-up evaluation.”
However, questions quickly arose about the timing. Trump had already completed his annual physical in April, so many were curious why another detailed examination was needed just a few months later.
Trump’s physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, released a one-page statement reassuring the public that the former president “remains in exceptional health,” highlighting his “strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.” The doctor also noted that Trump’s cardiac age is reportedly “14 years younger” than his actual age. During the visit, he received both a Covid-19 booster and an annual flu shot.
Despite the reassuring statement, concerns lingered after Trump was photographed on several occasions with bruises on his hands and what appeared to be swelling around his ankles. Some observers also pointed out that, during recent appearances, he seemed fatigued and was even caught on camera struggling to stay awake with a slightly drooping facial expression.
Back in July, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a vein condition that can cause swelling in the lower legs due to poor blood flow. The White House medical team said at the time that the issue was being managed and did not interfere with his duties.
Adding to speculation, Trump skipped an on-camera CNN interview last week with Jake Tapper, opting instead to submit his answers via text before the program aired. This unusual decision fueled further public debate over whether the former president’s health is declining behind the scenes.
During a LiveNow broadcast, Fox host Chris Boex interrupted his show to share the latest update, reading directly from the official statement:
“President Trump successfully completed a scheduled follow-up. This visit was part of his ongoing health maintenance. President Trump is in excellent health.”
While the official line from the White House insists the visit was routine, the repeated sightings of hand bruising and physical fatigue have kept social media buzzing. Many are wondering:
Is this simply part of aging, or is there more to the story than officials are letting on?
