President Donald Trump has been declared in “exceptional health” following a detailed medical checkup at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.
According to Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, who oversaw the examination, Trump’s visit lasted nearly three hours and included a full round of lab tests and a preventive health assessment as part of a scheduled follow-up evaluation.
During the visit, the 79-year-old president also received his annual flu shot and a COVID-19 booster.
Health Comparisons and Public Interest
Trump’s health has often been a topic of public interest, especially when compared to that of former President Joe Biden, whose age and stamina were frequently questioned during the 2024 election cycle. While Trump is only slightly younger than Biden, he remains one of the oldest individuals ever elected to the U.S. presidency.
Speculation about his health recently resurfaced after a dark bruise, reportedly covered with makeup, was spotted on his hand. The White House clarified that it was linked to Trump’s chronic venous insufficiency a common condition among older adults that affects blood circulation in the legs and hands.
Previous Checkups and Weight Loss
Trump’s earlier medical evaluation in April found him “fully fit” to serve, with his physician noting that he had lost around 20 pounds since his 2020 checkup and maintained an active lifestyle.
In July, he underwent another examination after noticing mild leg swelling, leading to the diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency. The White House stated that the condition is benign and manageable.
Latest Findings
Capt. Barbabella’s latest report included a cardiac age evaluation, which concluded that Trump’s heart health is comparable to someone 14 years younger than his chronological age.
In a statement released by the White House, Barbabella wrote:
“President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.”
Trump also commented on his condition after his April checkup, saying:
“Overall, I felt I was in very good shape.”
This latest examination came just before the president’s planned trip to the Middle East for discussions surrounding the ongoing Gaza ceasefire deal.
