Newly released photos from the White House on Friday, October 10, have once again raised questions about Donald Trump’s health. Observers noticed what appeared to be heavy makeup covering a bruise on the President’s right hand during a press conference in the Oval Office.
The event, where Trump announced a deal with pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca to lower drug prices, quickly turned into a talking point online. Close-up shots from the conference seemed to show a dark mark concealed under foundation, similar to previous occasions when the President’s hand appeared bruised.
The concern first surfaced shortly after the 2024 election, when Trump now 79 was seen with visible bruising on his right hand. Ironically, this came after months of criticizing his then-rival Joe Biden’s age and mental sharpness. Having reclaimed the White House in January, Trump is now the oldest president in U.S. history, yet continues to project vigor with a packed travel schedule and frequent media appearances.
According to reports, Trump underwent what he called a “semiannual physical” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, ahead of his upcoming trip to the Middle East. The White House Press Secretary described the visit as a “routine yearly checkup,” even though his last annual exam took place in April.
“I think I’m in great shape, but I’ll let you know,” the President told reporters before his exam.
Later that evening, the White House released a memo from his physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, stating that Trump remains in “exceptional health” with strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neurological performance. The report also mentioned that his “cardiac age” tested about 14 years younger than his actual age, and that he received both flu and COVID-19 booster vaccinations.
Despite these assurances, the repeated sightings of bruising have fueled continued online speculation. The mark was first spotted earlier this year during a visit from French President Emmanuel Macron and later appeared in photos with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Over the summer, Trump was also seen with swollen ankles, prompting additional health rumors. In July, the White House acknowledged he had chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)—a common, age-related condition causing mild swelling in the legs. Dr. Barbabella clarified that the bruising on Trump’s hand was due to minor tissue irritation and aspirin use, part of his preventive heart regimen.
The doctor’s note concluded confidently:
“President Trump remains in excellent health.”
Still, the latest images showing the President’s makeup-covered hand have reignited online debate, with social media users and health experts once again analyzing every detail.
