Donald Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, lost her cool during a fiery back-and-forth with CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins at a tense White House press briefing. The heated moment unfolded after Collins pressed Leavitt about the potential layoffs of federal workers amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has raised concerns about thousands of jobs being at risk.
Collins questioned the administration’s position, saying:
“On the layoff of federal workers, the president said Democrats will be to blame if federal workers lose their jobs. Historically, in past shutdowns, workers have been furloughed but not laid off in large numbers. So wouldn’t that ultimately be the president’s call?”
Leavitt shot back sharply, saying:
“As I’ve said repeatedly, Kaitlan, these conversations about layoffs wouldn’t be happening if Democrats hadn’t voted to shut down the government. We’re $37 trillion in debt, and the government isn’t receiving any cash. Someone needs to be responsible with taxpayer dollars.”
She went on to repeat her claim that the “Democrat shutdown” was to blame for the ongoing crisis.
The exchange quickly went viral across social media platforms, with viewers reacting in disbelief. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote:
“‘The government isn’t receiving any cash?’ That makes no sense. Trump keeps talking about trillions from tariffs and taxes. Where’s that money going?”
Another user commented:
“Layoffs didn’t happen in previous shutdowns, so blaming Democrats doesn’t add up. Project 2025 already outlined these cuts.”
A third added:
“So where are the trillions from tariffs and the billions the administration claimed to have saved?”
The exchange has sparked intense online debate, highlighting the growing tension between the Trump administration and members of the press as the government shutdown continues.
This administration is a virus, no honestly , lack of leaderships!
ReplyDeleteThey are leading brilliantly he created and raised the tariffs to reduce the debt and realign unfair trade practices and now he will reduce more governmental bloat.
DeleteThe Dems should have voted for this CR rather than trying to hold us hostage for 1.5 trillion. They voted to pass this exact CR in the past under Biden with nothing added.
They are nothing but chaos, destruction putting illegals over citizens.
How are they putting illegals over regular citizens? Give me an example, be truthful and don’t answer political speak..or copy Trumps verbiage. Hard facts that can be backed with examples. Otherwise it is all bull shit
DeleteWe have more leadership in past 6 months
ReplyDeleteThan the last 4 years. Cutting waste and fraud and theft going in the right direction.
This show leadership.
100%
DeleteThe democrats have voted for this exact same CR 13 other times.
ReplyDeleteThey have no excuse. The Democrats want our country to be in debt and give free everthing to Illegals.
Screw the demorats.
Yes, the dems previously voted for CR's after the repubs promised to discusscthe dems concerns. However once the CR was passed the repubs refused to discuss anything. Therefore it is time for the dems to stand firm. Alsom so called illegals do NOT get federally funded healthcare ie medicaid, ACA. That is a repub lie, one more of their endless drivel.
ReplyDeleteThe Republicans (especially in the House) generally control the initiation of funding legislation and often have the power to bring bills up.
ReplyDelete• The administration has incentives to push policy priorities (cut spending, restrict subsidies, etc.), and may refuse to negotiate or veto proposals.
• Democrats, for their part, are insisting that funding be tied to their policy priorities (extending subsidies), which is a legitimate strategy, but at the risk of being seen as obstructionist.
Thus, I lean toward saying Republicans / the administration bear more of the responsibility in this case, particularly because:
1. They control much of the procedural power in Congress over funding bills and have the ability to propose alternatives.
2. The administration’s messaging strategies (using federal agencies to shift blame) are ethically dubious and suggest an effort to deflect rather than engage.
3. Polls indicate that people tend to blame Republicans more for this particular shutdown.
True
DeleteStop blaming and shaming!!! This administration cares nothing about the American people. Federal workers or the people who depend on service. They should be living on the side of poverty, I bet they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, being evicted or keeping the lights on!
ReplyDeleteThe republicans and trump share the blame. if we are so much in dept why do billionaires get tax cuts and the burden is placed on the working man. Be for real. They want to give more to billionaires not pay the deficit down and the Dems know this.
ReplyDeleteIf he is so great at bringing other countries together why doesn't he solve our problems at home. Maybe he is getting exactly what he wants. Not to mention his increased wealth. To me , he is still Fellon 47 and he needs to go if we ever want to save Democracy.
ReplyDeleteTrump and ALL his cult need GO, persons afraid of the Donald knowing their fate,if they dare tell the TRUTH.Our country is distroyed by HE who is, another traitor.
