A routine day at Windsor Great Park was disrupted when a drone violated restricted airspace, prompting police to make an arrest.
A 37-year-old man from Brentford, London, was taken into custody after flying a drone in an area restricted due to President Donald Trump’s State Visit. The incident is under investigation under aviation legislation, and Thames Valley Police confirmed that the man remains in custody.
Police emphasized that the arrest highlights the importance of adhering to temporary airspace restrictions in place between September 16 and 18. During this period, all aircraft, including drones, are prohibited over Windsor and its surroundings.
President Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, arrived today on Air Force One. He was welcomed by UK officials, including Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, US Ambassador Warren Stephens, and Viscount Hood, the king’s lord-in-waiting. The president will spend the night at Windsor Castle, with no public engagements scheduled in London on Tuesday.
Additional airspace restrictions have also been implemented over Chequers ahead of the State Visit, part of increased security measures aimed at preventing potential threats.
Thames Valley Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, whether on the ground or in the air, by calling 101 or approaching a uniformed officer. In emergencies, dial 999 immediately.
