Russian state media has once again called on Donald Trump to shift his stance on the Ukraine war. Vladimir Solovyov, one of Moscow’s most vocal propagandists, used his Full Contact radio program to argue that America should join Russia in fighting what he described as “global evil.”
Solovyov claimed that Ukraine represents this “universal evil,” urging Washington to abandon Kyiv and “stand shoulder to shoulder” with Moscow, comparing the situation to World War II alliances. He framed the conflict as a battle for traditional and conservative values, appealing directly to American conservatives.
The appeal came shortly after the tragic killing of American political activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Solovyov alleged that Kirk had been openly critical of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and strongly opposed U.S. support for Kyiv. He went further, suggesting that Trump might adopt a harsher stance after Kirk’s death.
Other Russian officials echoed similar sentiments. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev blamed “liberal left-wing supporters of Kyiv” for fueling violence in the United States, drawing parallels to previous political attacks in Europe. Kremlin figures even circulated videos online accusing Western liberals of celebrating Kirk’s killing.
Medvedev posted on X: “Political crimes and assassinations are now being carried out by left-wing scum who support Banderite Kyiv. Fico, Kirk who’s next? Maybe it’s time for the MAGA movement to realize that by supporting Ukraine, they’re supporting murderers.”
This latest rhetoric highlights how Moscow continues to exploit political divisions in the United States, framing its war in Ukraine not just as a territorial conflict but as part of a larger ideological struggle.
