The state of Qatar has strongly condemned Israel’s attack on its capital, Doha, which took place on Tuesday, describing the action as a “cowardly Israeli attack” that violates international law. The strike specifically targeted Hamas headquarters in the city, prompting an official response from the Qatari government.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the attack constitutes a “blatant violation of all international laws and norms” and threatens the safety and security of both Qatari citizens and residents. The government confirmed that emergency services, including civil defense and security forces, acted immediately to contain the impact and protect the surrounding areas.
In a statement posted to X, Qatar warned that Israel’s actions would not be tolerated and affirmed its commitment to safeguarding national security and sovereignty. The government also noted that investigations into the incident are ongoing, with further details expected to be released soon.
On the other hand, Israel assumed full responsibility for the strike. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to X, stating that the operation targeted top Hamas leaders and was conducted independently by Israel. He highlighted that the strike aimed at eliminating individuals responsible for attacks against Israel, including the events of October 7, 2023.
In parallel, former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation via Truth Social, emphasizing that Hamas was aware of the consequences of rejecting a proposed deal that Israel had agreed to, and urging the group to comply to prevent further escalation.
The Israeli operation reportedly targeted Hamas leaders Khalil al-Hayya, Zaher Jabarin, and Khaled Mashal. Explosions were widely reported across Doha, with international media covering the event and confirming the focus on key Hamas figures.
The attack has intensified regional tensions, with global observers expressing concern over potential escalation and fears of broader conflict. Qatar’s response and Israel’s assertive stance have raised questions about how neighboring countries might react and whether diplomatic efforts can prevent further deterioration of the situation.
