CNN political commentator Van Jones has sparked major backlash from MAGA circles after bluntly stating that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is “the main person making America sicker again.”
Speaking on CNN, Jones criticized Kennedy for dismantling trust in public health institutions and spreading vaccine misinformation. He pointed out the irony of Kennedy’s campaign slogan, “Make America Healthy Again,” while noting the dangerous rise of preventable diseases like measles that had long been under control.
“He’s making America sicker again with diseases that should already be in the history books,” Jones said. “We’re talking about children dying of measles, more pandemics on the horizon, all because he thinks he knows better than every scientific expert in the world.”
Kennedy recently testified before the Senate, repeating many of his usual anti-vaccine claims. His decision to fire respected CDC official Susan Monarez has already triggered the resignation of four senior CDC leaders, leaving the agency in turmoil. Critics warn that this weakens America’s ability to respond to future health crises.
Jones also highlighted the unique danger of Kennedy’s platform: his family name.
“When you’re a Kennedy, people are going to listen to you,” Jones explained, stressing that this gives Kennedy’s misinformation even more influence over the public.
Public health experts warn that states like Florida rolling back vaccine requirements could lead to surges in childhood diseases and preventable deaths. For many, this signals a troubling step backward, with America risking a return to outbreaks that science had already defeated.
