Reports have surfaced about a potential security slip involving President Donald Trump’s visit to the men’s singles final at the US Open in New York. While officials insist there was no major breach, the situation has raised eyebrows.
According to multiple accounts, the nearby area was packed with Secret Service agents, with one even stationed at Elmhurst Hospital Centre in Queens part of the routine safety protocol when a sitting president is in the city.
The issue began when hospital staff created a group text to coordinate around the heightened security. By mistake, a hospital official added a random member of the public to the chat. That individual, who later spoke to journalists, said:
“I could not believe it I thought it was a prank. When I looked up the numbers, I saw they were all medical officials in New York City.”
The accidental recipient quickly pointed out they weren’t supposed to be part of the conversation. A hospital staff member simply replied, “OK thanks,” before correcting the error.
Despite the mix-up, both NYC Health + Hospitals and the United States Secret Service downplayed the incident. A hospital spokesperson explained that the facility often supports presidential visits, while the Secret Service emphasized that there was “no security impact” and that such coordination is standard procedure.
Officials strongly denied that Donald Trump’s safety was ever at risk.
