US President Donald Trump has accused China, Russia, and North Korea of “conspiring against the United States” after their leaders appeared together at a major military parade in Beijing on September 3.
The event, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Japan’s defeat in World War II, displayed some of China’s most advanced military technologies, including nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons, and underwater drones. Nearly two dozen world leaders attended, with Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian among the most notable guests.
Taking to his platform, Truth Social, Trump lashed out at Chinese President Xi Jinping. He wrote:
“Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. I hope they are rightfully honoured and remembered for their bravery and sacrifice.”
He ended his message with a sarcastic remark:
“Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against the United States of America.”
Earlier in the day, President Xi had opened the parade with a speech recalling the sacrifices of World War II, stating: “Today humanity again has to choose between peace and war.”
The parade also highlighted fighter jets and drone systems, followed by a state reception for visiting leaders. Meanwhile, Putin and Kim held bilateral talks at a separate venue.
This gathering was particularly significant as it marked the first time Xi, Putin, and Kim appeared publicly together, reflecting closer ties between Beijing, Moscow, and Pyongyang amid escalating tensions with Washington.
