Fox News shares Illinois governor's chilling seven-word warning to President Trump

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has once again pushed back against the Trump administration, warning that any attempt to deploy the National Guard or military troops to Chicago will be met with immediate legal action.

For weeks, former President Donald Trump has criticized Chicago, calling it a “disaster” and even a “killing hole.” His comments escalated when he revealed plans to send troops into the city, declaring during a press conference, “We’re going in. I didn’t say when, we’re going in.”

During a Fox & Friends segment on September 5, the network highlighted Governor Pritzker’s response. He made it clear:

“We’re going to immediately go to court if the National Guard or other military troops are sent to deploy to the city of Chicago. Immediately go to court.”

Pritzker explained that the first line of defense would be seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) or injunction to block such federal action. He emphasized that the stakes go far beyond Illinois, stating, “The future of our democracy, the future of America is on the line.”

Just days earlier, Pritzker had pleaded directly: “Mr. President, do not come to Chicago.” He urged that “rational voices” in the White House or Pentagon step in before the situation escalates.

The Illinois governor also stressed his commitment to stand with peaceful protesters if Trump moved forward with the deployment, noting that his administration is preparing a full legal strategy.

“The state of Illinois is ready to stand against this military deployment with every peaceful tool we have,” Pritzker said. “We will see the Trump administration in court.”

In a stronger closing remark, he added: “If you hurt my people, nothing will stop me, not time or political circumstance, from making sure you face justice under our constitutional rule of law.”

Trump, however, dismissed the warning, responding: “We’re going to do it anyway. We have the right to do it because I have an obligation to protect this country.”

This clash follows earlier deployments of federal agents in Washington, D.C., and Trump’s repeated statements that Chicago and New York could be his next targets.
