Fox News coverage was briefly interrupted after former President Donald Trump launched into a scathing attack on late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. The controversy erupted following Kimmel’s remarks about the tragic shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was killed last week.
Speaking live on air, Trump branded Kimmel a “total loser” with “no talent” and reminded viewers of past run-ins, including the moment Kimmel read one of Trump’s “truths” at the Academy Awards. Trump claimed Kimmel not only insulted Kirk but also suffers from “low ratings and no real talent,” calling it a “deadly combination.”
The backlash grew after ABC confirmed that Kimmel has been pulled off air indefinitely. This decision followed threats from FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who accused the comedian of misleading the public with his comments about the political implications of Kirk’s death.
During his Monday monologue, Kimmel criticized Trump and his supporters, saying they were “desperately trying to reframe the shooter” and mocked Trump’s grieving process, comparing it to a child mourning a pet. His remarks drew sharp condemnation from Carr, who described Kimmel’s conduct as “sick” and demanded a public apology.
Kimmel, who has hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! since 2003 and fronted the Oscars multiple times, now faces an uncertain future as the debate over free speech, political bias, and media responsibility intensifies.
