U.S. President Donald Trump drew attention once again after a lighthearted but awkward moment in the Oval Office.
During a recent bill signing ceremony, Congressman John Rose of Tennessee presented Trump with a gift from one of his constituents an American flag. Handing it over, Rose said: “I would like to leave with this gift from a constituent back in Tennessee.”
Trump’s six-word reply left some people puzzled. He responded: “I could use that at night.”
Rose laughed and clarified: “It’s an American flag.” Trump then quickly followed up with: “It’s very nice, I like that. Thank you very much.”
The exchange happened after Trump signed several pieces of legislation at his Oval Office desk, including the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act, a bill sponsored by Rose that restricts how personal financial information can be shared.
Rose noted the bill’s importance, saying: “It’s difficult for Americans to buy homes, particularly after the last four years, sir.”
This lighthearted moment comes shortly after online speculation about Trump’s health went viral. Social media had been buzzing with the phrase “Donald Trump is dead” after photos showed a dark patch on his hand.
Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, dismissed the rumors, explaining: “This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”
