Donald Trump’s health has once again become a topic of public debate after his appearance at the 9/11 memorial service at the Pentagon. During the broadcast, viewers noticed that his mouth appeared to droop slightly to one side, sparking renewed speculation about his wellbeing.
This comes just days after photographs of Trump’s hands went viral, showing what appeared to be dark patches and bruising that seemed to appear and disappear at different times. The White House attributed this to “frequent handshaking” combined with his regular use of aspirin, which can cause easier bruising.
CNN’s Jake Tapper addressed the issue on The Lead with Dr. Sanjay Gupta on September 5. Tapper highlighted not only the hand bruising but also pictures of swollen ankles, asking whether these signs pointed to a larger health issue.
Dr. Gupta explained that Trump’s doctors have stated he suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a condition where blood doesn’t circulate properly from the extremities, causing swelling in the ankles. He also noted that bruising on the hands can often occur with age, as the skin thins and blood vessels become more visible due to sun exposure.
Despite the speculation, Trump’s medical team maintains he is in “excellent health.” His longtime physician, Representative Ronny Jackson, even described him as “the healthiest president this nation has ever seen.”
Public reaction to the discussion has been mixed. Some viewers dismissed the coverage as politically motivated, while others expressed genuine concern about the president’s condition. For now, Trump’s doctors continue to downplay the worries, but his visible health signs have certainly kept the conversation alive.
