The FBI has released images of a person of interest connected to the tragic shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the FBI’s Salt Lake City office posted two photos and asked for the public’s help in identifying the individual. The man is seen wearing dark sunglasses, dark clothing, and a T-shirt that appears to display the American flag. Officials have not confirmed whether this person is the suspected shooter or simply someone who may have information about the attack.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was the founder of Turning Point USA and a well-known ally of former President Donald Trump. He was fatally shot on Wednesday while speaking at a student event. According to investigators, the shooter may have fired from a rooftop before escaping into a nearby neighborhood.
Authorities revealed that the attack occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time, just as Kirk was answering a student’s question. Video footage shows him collapsing on stage, with visible injuries to his neck. Disturbingly, Kirk had posted a TikTok video minutes before the incident, telling the crowd: “That’s a lot of people, Utah. Gather up. I’m going to be here for a couple of hours, get comfortable.”
President Donald Trump has since ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Kirk. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“You don’t replace Charlie Kirk. He was unique, as you all know. We’ll do the best we can, but there was only one Charlie.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Undersecretary of State Christopher Landau issued a warning against those glorifying the killing online, saying that foreigners who praise violence and hatred would face consequences and would not be “welcome visitors” to the United States.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the FBI has urged anyone with information about the man in the released images to come forward.
