BBC Laura Kuenssberg left speechless as Pier Morgan announces 'it's bad news' for Starmer

During his appearance on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, broadcaster Piers Morgan warned that Sir Keir Starmer could be facing a political storm just as Donald Trump prepares for a high-profile visit to London.

Morgan suggested Starmer is “lucky” that there’s no Prime Minister’s Questions this week, since the ongoing controversy surrounding Labour grandee Lord Peter Mandelson’s past ties with Jeffrey Epstein continues to dominate UK headlines. According to Morgan, the timing of Trump’s state visit makes the scandal even more damaging.

“The one story everyone is talking about in the UK, just as Trump arrives, is the Epstein scandal,” Morgan explained. “Imagine a press conference where instead of discussing the special relationship or the Royal Family, Starmer is pressed on Epstein connections. That’s very bad news for him.”

Morgan also revealed he had recently interviewed American lawyer David Boies, best known for representing Epstein survivor Virginia Giuffre. Boies reportedly told him there was “nothing incriminating” against Donald Trump in Epstein’s files but insisted there were “10 to 20 other men” who had never been fully investigated.

This follows an emotional BBC interview with Giuffre’s family, who expressed outrage over Mandelson’s appointment as UK ambassador to Washington. Her brother Sky Roberts argued the decision “speaks to how deep corruption runs in our systems.”

Meanwhile, Business Secretary Peter Kyle admitted it was “highly unlikely” Mandelson would have been appointed if officials had known the full extent of his relationship with Epstein. Mandelson has denied any wrongdoing, stressing that, as a gay man, he was never offered nor sought introductions to women by Epstein.

The scandal is now colliding with Trump’s visit, creating an awkward backdrop for Starmer, who had hoped to spotlight UK–US relations rather than defend his government’s handling of Mandelson’s role.
