Former Special Counsel Jack Smith, known for leading key investigations involving Donald Trump, has finally spoken publicly and his remarks are causing shockwaves across the political and legal community.
In a candid interview with former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, Smith directly addressed the state of the U.S. Justice Department under Trump’s leadership, calling out what he described as a “deeply politicized system” that rewards loyalty over justice.
“The idea that politics would play a role in major cases like this is absolutely ludicrous,” Smith said. “But that’s exactly what’s happening now.”
⚖️ Jack Smith Says DOJ Has Become Politicized
Smith criticized what he called a growing pattern of political interference inside the Trump-run DOJ. He referenced several examples where legal decisions appeared to serve Trump’s personal interests rather than the law itself.
One striking example he gave was the decision to drop federal charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams after he agreed to support Trump’s immigration initiatives. According to Smith, such moves blur the line between justice and political favoritism.
“Nothing like it has ever happened before,” Smith warned. “That’s not justice that’s corruption dressed up as policy.”
💣 “Tons of Evidence” Trump Knew He Was Breaking the Law
Smith also opened up about his classified documents investigation, stating that his team uncovered substantial proof that Trump knowingly withheld and hid sensitive government materials.
“We had tons of evidence of willfulness and obstruction,” he revealed. “The government tried to retrieve the documents long before any criminal investigation began, but Trump refused. That kind of evidence simply didn’t exist in the Biden case.”
Smith’s comments directly refute claims that his investigation was politically motivated. He emphasized that his approach was based solely on facts and the law, not partisanship.
⚠️ Concern Over Supreme Court Immunity Ruling
Smith also expressed concern about the Supreme Court’s ruling granting Trump partial immunity, saying it could undermine accountability for powerful officials.
“That decision is essentially saying you can’t prosecute top officials no matter what they do,” he said. “That’s dangerous for any democracy.”
👩⚖️ Smith Warns: The Rule of Law Is at Risk
Throughout the interview, Smith defended the integrity of career prosecutors who continue to uphold the law amid political pressure.
“They’re being told to get specific outcomes, regardless of the evidence,” he said. “That’s the opposite of how justice is supposed to work.”
Smith a career prosecutor who has served under both Republican and Democratic administrations made it clear that his concern isn’t political, but constitutional.
“This isn’t about party lines,” he concluded. “It’s about protecting the rule of law.”
Trump has led a corrupt life in his business and he carried that corruption into politics enabled by questionable rulings by our Supreme Court and an archaic DOJ rule about not prosecuting political candidates even when they are as guilty as Trump! Now America is on the verge of a collapse of law and order and a second civil war!
