CNN’s Michael Smerconish hosted Eric Trump for a live interview where he opened up about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024. The network briefly paused its regular programming for the segment, which also tied into Eric’s new book release.
Smerconish began by showing his marked-up copy of the book, referencing a section titled “Everything Hidden Will Be Revealed.” He read aloud Eric’s words describing the moment when “a 20-year-old armed with multiple cell phones attempted to kill my father… from an unmanned, unprotected rooftop.”
When asked what he meant by that passage, Eric replied passionately:
“I am totally unsatisfied. You had someone with a scope rifle, just 130 yards away, taking aim at a former Commander in Chief and at that time, the likely future Commander in Chief. Eight weeks later, they tried again at his golf course. We only have one photo of that shooter, and he looks like a teenager. America deserves answers.”
Smerconish then asked if Eric believed there was a conspiracy behind the incident.
Eric didn’t hold back:
“They’ve tried everything to silence my father from bankrupting him to raiding his home. And yes, I believe there was an attempt to end his life because they don’t want his voice, or ours, on that stage.”
He referenced his friend Charlie Kirk, recalling the recent shooting incident that left Kirk injured:
“They tried to do to my father what they did to Charlie. It breaks my heart to say that. We must find out who this man was we still know nothing.”
The interview quickly gained attention online, as many viewers noted Eric Trump’s emotional tone and continued doubts about how the investigation has been handled.
