Trump fawns over Google co-founder’s 'wonderful MAGA girlfriend' as Melania looks on

At a high-profile White House dinner attended by top tech leaders, President Donald Trump singled out Google co-founder Sergey Brin and made a lighthearted remark about his partner, introducing her as Brin’s “really wonderful MAGA girlfriend.”

The star-studded event drew some of the biggest names in the tech industry, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. According to a White House spokesperson, the new Rose Garden patio dinners are intended to become one of Washington’s premier networking events for business, political, and tech leaders.

During the gathering, Trump asked Brin if his girlfriend would like to say a few words. Gerelyn Gilbert-Soto, appearing both surprised and excited, expressed her gratitude:

“Truly every time I’m here or in your presence, I’m so grateful, so thank you. It’s like, I can’t believe it every time… I think you’re doing amazing work.”

Brin then joined in, commending Trump’s hardline stance on Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, praising him for “putting pressure” on authoritarian leaders and calling it “phenomenal for an American president.” He also took the opportunity to thank the administration for its support of artificial intelligence development, stressing the importance of U.S. leadership in a rapidly advancing global tech race.

The scene stood in sharp contrast to Trump’s rocky relationship with Google just a year earlier, when he accused the company of being biased against conservatives and even threatened to “shut it down.” Now, the dinner turned into something of a flattery session, with several guests praising Trump’s policies and leadership.

While the evening was filled with praise and lighthearted moments, it unfolded against a backdrop of international intrigue, including ongoing speculation about Vladimir Putin’s health and even rumors of a body double appearing alongside Trump at a recent summit in Alaska.
