Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s latest public appearance has sparked not just controversy, but an unprecedented family rift. His nephew, former Congressman Joe Kennedy III, publicly urged him to resign immediately, calling him a direct threat to the health and safety of Americans.
In a statement posted on X, Joe Kennedy III wrote:
“Robert Kennedy Jr. is a threat to the health and wellbeing of every American. A Secretary of Health and Human Services is tasked with protecting public health. Yesterday, he chose the opposite: to dismiss science, mislead the public, sideline experts, and sow confusion. None of us will be spared the pain he is inflicting.”
Adding to the criticism, RFK Jr.’s sister Kerry Kennedy also condemned his handling of health policy. She reminded the public of the lifesaving role vaccines have played since the 18th century and warned that undermining institutions like the NIH and CDC could result in devastating consequences. Kerry Kennedy made it clear:
“Medical decisions belong in the hands of trained professionals, not misguided leadership. The destruction of trusted institutions will cost lives. Enough is enough. Secretary Kennedy must resign.”
Even the younger generation of the Kennedy family weighed in. Jack Schlossberg, grandson of President John F. Kennedy, mocked his cousin’s disastrous Senate testimony, writing on X: “RFK LOSER is choking so badly LIVE.”
The hearing itself was widely seen as a disaster. RFK Jr. repeated anti-vaccine rhetoric, spread misinformation, and faced fierce backlash for defending his decision to fire CDC Director Susan Monarez a move that prompted multiple senior CDC officials to resign.
For many Americans, the takeaway is clear: RFK Jr. is not only unfit for public office, but his leadership poses real risks to public health. The public humiliation he now faces is compounded by the fact that his strongest critics are not just political opponents but his own family.
