Columnist Carole Malone criticized the demonstrators, calling them “clearly unhinged” and warning about the potential consequences of the Stop Trump group on UK-US relations. Hundreds of activists gathered in central London and Windsor to voice their opposition to the US President’s visit. During one protest, four individuals were arrested after images linking Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle.
Speaking on Daily Expresso, the Express’s weekday news show on YouTube, Malone expressed concern over the Stop Trump organization, saying, “This group frightens me more than anything Trump might do. They organize the events, coordinate attendees, and have an alarming mindset. They would celebrate violence and appear indifferent to human life.”
Malone continued, “Stop Trump poses a bigger danger than Trump himself. They act as if their protests are fully justified, but that’s far from reality. Many people have opposed Trump’s visit over the past two years, but dismissing the visit outright is short-sighted. He is the democratically elected leader of the United States and was invited here. Labeling his visit as fascist or Nazi-inspired is absurd.”
She also highlighted the economic stakes of the visit, emphasizing that Trump’s trip is as much about business as it is ceremonial. “This visit is a chance for deals that benefit both countries,” Malone said. “He’s negotiating billion-dollar tech investments and fine-tuning trade deals. Given the economic challenges here, his engagement is vital.”
Malone cited recent setbacks in UK investments, explaining, “We just lost a billion-dollar deal with MERV, and AstraZeneca canceled a £400 million investment. GlaxoSmithKline is taking their billion-dollar project to the US. This country cannot afford to ignore opportunities like this. Working with Trump could benefit all of us.”
She concluded, “The protesters may not have to manage a country, but Trump’s actions could directly support the UK’s economy. Rejecting him solely over politics, morality, or rhetoric would be foolish. Cooperation is necessary to secure economic growth and stability.”
