During a recent Fox News interview, Vice President JD Vance was asked whether he plans to run for president in 2028. However, he avoided giving a direct answer, leaving viewers divided and sparking widespread speculation.
Lara Trump pressed Vance on his political future, asking, “A lot of people think that you will be running for president in 2028. Can we expect that?”
Instead of responding with a clear yes or no, Vance focused on his current role. “I just think that… I don’t like thinking about it because I like thinking about the job that I have right now,” he said. He added that if he and his team perform well in 2025 and 2026, then discussions about future politics could come later. “I really think the American people are so fed up with folks who are already running for the next job seven months into the current one,” he explained.
Vance also emphasized that any future political success would not be guaranteed. “There are a lot of great people. I think if I do end up running, it’s not going to be given to me either on the Republican side or on the national side. So I’m just going to keep on working hard. This is the most important job I’ve ever had it may be the most important job I ever have outside of being a father to those three beautiful kids. I’m going to try to do my best, and I think the politics will figure itself out.”
The interview left Fox viewers split. Some speculated that Vance could succeed Donald Trump, potentially preventing a third Trump term in 2028. Others joked about his careful wording, with one viewer saying, “Bro said he’s not thinking about 2028 while already measuring the Oval Office curtains,” while another asked, “So the answer is yes?” Many noted that Vance’s response was a “classic politician move focus on today, dodge tomorrow.”
Aside from discussing his own ambitions, Vance praised President Trump’s work ethic and leadership style. He described Trump as someone who “doesn’t have an off switch,” often calling at odd hours to discuss multiple topics. “It’s like, ‘Mr. President, did you go to sleep last night?’” Vance joked. He highlighted Trump’s ability to delegate and trust his team, calling it “really amazing” and a key reason why working in the administration has been enjoyable.
