Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has shared deeply emotional photos and videos from her husband’s funeral on Instagram.
Charlie Kirk, just 31 years old and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically shot and killed on Wednesday while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. His assassination has sparked shock, condemnation, and renewed debate across the United States about the rise of political violence and the toxic state of modern political discourse.
On Friday, Erika Kirk posted a series of 12 photographs and video clips. Several of them showed her standing beside her husband’s open casket, dressed in black, overcome with grief. In one emotional video, Erika can be heard sobbing, holding her husband’s hand, and saying repeatedly, “I love you.”
Other images included Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, alongside Erika during the ceremony, and solemn moments when Charlie Kirk’s casket was carried onto an aircraft while a bagpiper played in the background.
Erika and Charlie Kirk share two young children: a daughter born in August 2022 and a son born in May 2024.
During a live broadcast on Turning Point USA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Erika described Charlie as “the perfect husband and the perfect father.”
On Instagram, she also wrote a powerful message of faith and resilience:
“The world is evil. But our Savior, our Lord, our God—He is so good. I have no idea what this all means. But I know you do, baby, and so does our Lord. They will never forget you, Charlie. I’ll make sure of it.”
Her words resonated with thousands, with supporters calling her bravery and strength “extraordinary.”
Prominent figures also spoke out:
Riley Gaines, a conservative activist, said on X: “How could anyone listen to Erika Kirk’s compassion and still celebrate such a cold-blooded murder?”
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) praised Erika’s faith, saying: “The bravery, love, and faith she showed tonight were extraordinary. We mourn Charlie but stand with Erika, the Kirk family, and Turning Point in carrying forward his legacy.”
President Donald Trump confirmed he has spoken with Erika, noting that she intends to keep Turning Point USA active in honor of her late husband. Trump also announced he plans to attend Kirk’s funeral in Arizona next weekend.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the shooting.
This tragedy has reignited conversations about political extremism, security at public events, and the urgent need to lower the temperature of America’s political climate.
